The Magic of Connection – Fabulous Feedback

Recently I had the privilege of attending a celebration dinner with an incredible group of leaders I’d been supporting over the last 6 months. After so much of our work together was online, it was magical to finally be in the same room.
The evening was filled was hugs, smiles, laughter, and vibrant energy. If you know me well, you’ll know this is my kinda space!
There was also something which took me by surprise. During dinner, I was asked:
The Magic Question: Why are you so amazing?
I jokingly replied, “Because I am!” But they wanted more.
This wasn’t the generic “What do you do?” inquiry, this felt different. They were genuinely intrigued.
So, I shared how by creating a space of trust, I get to know each person on a deeper level, beyond the professional exterior which is shown to everyone else.
I shared how because of lots of different reasons, we can hide what we think, and how we feel, so it’s like being covered in lots of different layers. And my role is to dig deep and uncover all of this – because that is who you really are.
And that’s what you see tonight!
True Connection = Impact
When they told me “I’ve been hearing a lot about your work, and it’s impressive!” I was genuinely moved.
Those words lingered as I sat there for a few moments, soaking up what had just been said, and felt truly grateful to be a part of the programme and this celebration. More importantly, I felt truly blessed to contribute to the personal and leadership journeys of my clients.
I don’t know what feedback my clients gave this person, and I don’t need to know either. Because I felt the impact in that moment.
Moments like these are why I do this work – to connect, to understand, and to awaken the inner leader already within each person.
So, here’s to more moments of joy, genuine connection, and meaningful work ahead! As I reflect on this celebration, I’m reminded of the profound impact we can have when we embrace authenticity and create space for others to be seen for who they truly are.
In sharing my story, I hope to inspire reflection in you.
1) How would your team describe you?
Imagine your team gathered for a celebration dinner. Would they ask, “Why are you so amazing?” Have you created a space where your authentic self is seen and appreciated?
2) Are you showing up authentically each day?
Reflect on your interactions at work and in life. Is your true self shining through, or is it still hidden beneath layers?
Remember, the choice is yours
Do you remain hidden under those layers, or do you dig deep to uncover your true self?
Whichever path you choose, embrace it wholeheartedly.
The choice is yours, and it holds the key to unlocking a world of meaningful connections, personal growth, and genuine fulfilment.
I truly believe that if you move away from the comfort of all the layers you’ve constructed, it’ll spark a big change in your life. Start to peel back those layers, acknowledge vulnerabilities, and embrace the uniqueness that makes you, you.
It’s about embracing leadership, on your own terms.
Remember, it all starts with you. That’s the secret to Great Leadership.
