Hidden Clues: the signs you’ve been ignoring

Most people have had moments like this, even if they don’t always notice them at the time.

A sinking feeling in your stomach before you can name why. A headache that arrives around the same person every time. The Sunday dread that shows up without fail. The exhaustion that sleep doesn’t touch.

And what do we do with it?

We rename it. Nerves. Stress. Tiredness. Overthinking. And carry on.

I did the same thing.

My first proper job. Three buses to get there, proper chuffed to have made it, and within days my manager sat me down and gave me what I came to call the script. Who I could talk to. How to act. How to address people of authority.

I remember a sinking feeling in my stomach. My inner voice saying, something’s not right here. I told myself it was first week nerves. But it wasn’t nerves, it was information. My body knew something my mind wasn’t ready to hear yet. It was trying to tell me, quietly but clearly, that something in that room didn’t sit right with who I actually was.

I call them Hidden Clues.

Secret whispers from your soul, speaking through your energy, your intuition, and your body’s wisdom.

A feeling that doesn’t quite settle. Something you notice, and then move past. The kind of whispers you ignore or rename to something more acceptable.

They tend to show up right in the middle of it. That moment where something doesn’t quite sit right or feels off. Usually when you’re in the middle of the authenticity tug-of-war. Between fitting in, and being who you actually are.

They’re not always obvious. They’re more subtle, like a low humming sound in the background. Easy to miss if you’re not paying attention. Easy to explain away.

What’s going on for you right now as you read this?

Before you think about it. Before you make sense of it. Just notice.

Are you feeling a flutter of excitement? Nodding along thinking, yes, this makes sense? A mix of curiosity and scepticism? Or sitting up a little straighter?

Take your time. Listen to the secret whispers from your soul. Truly listen.

Whatever you’re experiencing right now, that’s a Hidden Clue. Your inner guidance in action.

The problem isn’t that these clues are hard to hear. It’s that we’re very good at overriding them.

My Dad used to say, “Listen to your body. It gives you clues.” He was right.

Your body is the most honest thing about you.

It doesn’t edit itself. It doesn’t perform. It doesn’t say I’m fine when it isn’t. It just tells the truth. The first reaction. The slight shift. The tightening. The pull you can’t quite explain.

That moment matters more than anything you tell yourself after it.

So instead of asking what should I do …a better question might be:

What has your body been trying to tell you that you’ve been ignoring?

Don’t rush to answer it. Just notice what happened when you read that. What came up first, before you started making sense of it. That’s usually where the truth is.

If you want somewhere to stay with that, not analyse it or fix it, just stay with it – I’ve recorded an audio walk for exactly this. Something to listen to while you’re moving. No pressure to work anything out. Just space to notice what’s already there.

And if something surfaces while you’re listening, the companion guide helps you stay with it a little longer. To feel it. To put words to it. Understand it more clearly. And decide what to do with it, at your own pace.

The blog helps you understand Hidden Clues. The walk lets you feel one. The guide helps you stay with what came up.

The difference isn’t more information. It’s a deeper experience.
