Leadership Recharged - My Moments of Joy

Embarking on a recent journey to Marrakesh was nothing short of magical!
The vibrant sights, captivating sounds, and boundless energy were like nothing I’ve experienced before. It was a whirlwind of beauty, madness, and exploration!
However, I was telling someone about our adventure, and they replied:
“You’ve only just had a holiday; you don’t need another rest, do you?”
My reflections and your reflections
It got me thinking …
While holidays are undeniably essential, is it healthy to rely on them as our only form of rest and recharge?
I wondered whether true well-being could be achieved by weaving joy and recharge into our daily lives, rather than reserved for once or twice a year?
After all, holidays are more about embracing new experiences, connecting with different cultures, and finding joy in exploration, rather than a mere switch to be flipped after a year of relentless work.
So, I pose the question to you:
Do you carve out time each day for self-care and mindfulness, or are you counting down the days until your next big holiday?
Finding Daily Moments of Joy
For me, life is too short not to practice self-care and find daily joy.
And that includes small daily practices like meditating, reflecting, exercising, enjoying nature, or simply watching the world go by. I’m committed to living this way, and love supporting others to do the same.
But what I know from supporting leaders for over 20 years, is, it’s clear we know self-care is crucial, yet we struggle to build it into each day.
I believe starting small is key.
Leadership Recharge in 5-10 minutes
The one ritual I find most grounding is sitting with my morning coffee, watching the world go by. It allows me to be fully present and cultivates a sense of ease, setting the tone for a calm, focused day.
The beauty is, recharge and self-care don’t have to be a spa day or another hour appointment in your calendar. Just 5-10 minutes of time ‘just for you’ can make a big difference through:
- A short walk to clear your mind
- Sitting in silence to focus on your breath
- Journaling gratitude to focus on the positive
- Uplifting music while you stretch and unwind
- Sipping tea mindfully, immersed in the moment
These brief moments of self-care can have a profound impact on your well-being and those around you. Integrating them into your daily life is simpler than it may seem. It’s about finding what resonates with you and dedicating a few minutes each day to recharge.

I truly believe that if you take the time to weave self-care into your daily life, it’ll spark a big change in your life. You’ll have more focus, energy, and time to spend on what’s important to you and your loved ones.
It’s about embracing well-being, on your own terms.
Remember, it all starts with you.
